User experience (UX) writer & technical writer

Overall, these four projects demonstrate my expertise in user-centered content design and localization for web apps, medical devices, and software content. Through research, collaboration, and a deep understanding of user needs, I have consistently produced content that enhances user experience and achieves desired outcomes.

Project 1: Courseload Usability Testing
User-Centered Content Design and Web Apps: In this project, I focused on creating user-centered content design for web applications. By conducting thorough user research and analysis, I identified the needs and preferences of the target audience. With this information, I developed intuitive and engaging web app interfaces that prioritize user experience. The content design was carefully crafted to ensure seamless navigation, clear messaging, and effective communication of key information. By implementing user-centered design principles, the web apps achieved higher user satisfaction and engagement.
Project 2: Insight Review
Software Content: In this project, I focused on creating compelling and user-friendly content for software applications. By understanding the target audience and their needs, I developed clear and concise content that guided users through the software's features and functionality. The content was designed to be easily accessible, informative, and engaging. I collaborated closely with developers and user experience designers to ensure that the content aligned seamlessly with the software's interface, resulting in a cohesive and intuitive user experience. Through the effective use of language and visuals, the software content facilitated user adoption and satisfaction.
Project 3: Clinician App User Experience Writing/Content Design
Content Localization: In this project, I tackled the challenge of content localization for global audiences. I worked on adapting content for different languages, cultures, and regions while maintaining its original intent and effectiveness. Through extensive research and collaboration with localization experts, I developed strategies to ensure that the content resonated with the target audience, considering linguistic nuances, cultural sensitivities, and regional preferences. By employing localization best practices, I successfully localized web apps, medical device content, and software interfaces for international markets, resulting in increased user engagement and market penetration.

Project 4: MedDevice Technical Content Development
Medical Devices: In this project, I delved into the realm of medical devices and their content design. I worked closely with medical professionals and engineers to understand the intricacies of the devices and the specific requirements of the users. Through comprehensive research and collaboration, I created user-friendly content for medical device interfaces, user manuals, and online support systems. The content was tailored to cater to different user levels, ensuring that both healthcare professionals and patients could easily navigate and operate the devices. By prioritizing clarity, accuracy, and simplicity, the medical device content facilitated effective use and improved patient outcomes.

My experience

My background includes working for various companies such as LivaNova, Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, OpenText, Comcast Business, Viega LLC, Flatirons Solutions, and Texas State University while designing digital and print content. In these roles, I have developed and designed digital content for enterprise applications, assisted in usability testing, created content strategies, managed content localization, created consistent key naming strategies, created user guides and manuals, conducted documentation development and approval reviews, collaborated with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and conducted user experience research. I have worked on a wide range of products, including medical devices, cybersecurity, LegalTech AI products, and more.

My experience also includes using a variety of tools, such as Figma, Notion, Dovetail, Confluence, Oxygen XML, Elevo.io, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. I am comfortable working with these tools and am always open to learning new ones.

Most recently, I worked as a UX Writer/Content Designer for LivaNova, where I designed UX content for a new medical device software for epilepsy using Figma. I created a content strategy for consistent UX/UI content and documentation, collaborated with stakeholders to refine new UX content, and led reviews of new content, and wrote, created and published design system documentation in Figma. Prior to that, I worked for Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic as a Sr. Technical Writer, where I created medical device user guides, patient and clinician manuals, home use guides, service manuals, and instructions for use (IFUs) for new and existing product lines.
